CHAIRMAN of the Presidential Advisory Committee on National Conference, Senator Femi Okurounmu, has urged Yoruba people to vote for President Goodluck Jonathan in the March 28 election.

Okurounmu, in a press release issued and made available to the Nigerian Tribune, in Abeokuta, explained that the Yoruba must be wary of the antics of a national leader of the All Progressives Congress (APC) in leading them to political enslavement.

The former Secretary-General of Afenifere, a Yoruba socio-cultural group, insisted that only Jonathan, out of all the presidential candidates, remained the logical choice for the people of the South-West.

He maintained that the best option for the people of South-West was to vote for a candidate that would implement the recommendations of the 2014 national conference.

“Those who fail to learn from history will repeat its mistakes. We Yorubas must learn from history. We must never allow another Afonja episode in Yorubaland. We must reject all attempts to lead us into political enslavement.

“Our honourable option is to vote for the candidate that will implement the recommendations of the 2014 national conference and crown our efforts of over three decades with glory. That candidate is President Goodluck Jonathan,” he said.

He argued that the APC presidential candidate, Major-General Muhammadu Buhari, would not serve the collective interests of the Yoruba if elected, because his party opposed the recommendations of the national conference.
